Week beginning - Monday 24th February 2020

In English we have been looking at a new book, 'Lost and Found' by Oliver Jeffers, a very popular author. We shared the story together and spent some time discussing the characters within the book. The children then used adjectives to describe the characters. Using pictures from the story, the children were able to sequence the book. By doing this, I was able to assess the children's ability to recall a story. We have since been learning the book through talk for writing.

In Maths this week we have been recognising 1/2 and 1/4 written as a fraction. The children used paper plates to represent a whole, half and quarter. The children calculated 1/2 and 1/4 of an amount. We then talked about position and direction, using a hoop to help us move 1/2 and 1/4 turns accurately.

We continued our work in Rousseau this week, this consisting of painting their sketches and then evaluating what they had created.

We celebrated Pancake day by making pancakes! The children applied their knowledge and understanding of weighing.

Miss Blake introduced us to a new game she has made, phonics jenga! We had a great time playing it before home time!
