Week commencing - 27th January 2020

Last Friday we celebrated Chinese New Year. The children worked in their houses and moved around a variety of activities throughout the morning. The activities were: learning and understanding the meaning of Chinese New Year, slider dragons, Chinese fans and cooking Chinese food. In the afternoon the children had a huge Chinese banquet in the hall. They had the opportunity to try the different Chinese foods that had been cooked. They had the opportunity to experiment using chop sticks too!

In Maths this week we have been doing a lot of work around number bonds to 10! The children have been very responsive to this and are becoming fluent in recalling which two numbers go together to make 10. We have played a variety of games to help embed this knowledge. The children have represented the number bonds to 10 by using concrete objects and numicon. Yesterday we developed our problem solving and reasoning skills through word problems.
